This week, Capuchino High School students are eating out of a new cafeteria complex, the first building completed from the $137.5 Measure D passed by voters in 2000.
While students began using the cafeteria Nov. 1, the school hosted a formal ribbon-cutting Monday and plans to host a similar event for parents Tuesday evening.
Adjacent to the new cafeteria is the new Spirit Court, a grassy area with picnic tables for students where students can eat homemade and hot lunches.
A classroom for food classes next to the cafeteria is expected to open next week.
Pointing to the Spirit Court Monday afternoon, Capuchino Administrative Assistant Judith Puccini said "It would be a great place for an outdoor dance."

The new cafeteria replaces a cafeteria used since 1954 that is slated to be rebuilt with one of the new academic wings.
Capuchino is also constructing a technology arts building next year, and a library and music building in 2007.
The total anticipated budget for Capuchino is $42,072,051, architects said when the district met in late October.
"It's nice when things turn out right," Puccini said.
Parents are invited to the cafeteria's ribbon-cutting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, coinciding with a Holiday Faire to raise money for a new electronic billboard.
