Gov. Gavin Newsom is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who shot a Hillsborough police officer outside the town's police station two months ago.
Investigators have exhausted all leads and requested that a reward be offered to encourage anyone with information about this attempted murder to come forward, the Governor's Office said Friday.
The shooting occurred about 3:49 p.m. on Feb. 22 in what police described as a secured area near an auxiliary building.
"When approached, the individual fired at the officer, who returned fire," police said in the press release at the time. "It wasn't known whether the suspect was hit. He fled the scene on foot."
The gunshot struck the officer in an area protected by his body armor, Capt. Meme Colla said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Cpl. Josh Wang at (650) 375-7470. Anonymous tips can be submitted to tips@hillsborough.net.
