A dragon boat is a 44-foot canoe that seats 20 paddlers and the Bay Area Dragons (BAD) are looking to fill those seats. BAD offers free dragon boat lessons every Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Foster City Boat Park. BAD provides the life jackets, paddles, boats, and expert coaching.
BAD has its own boats and competes in the local races in San Francisco, Foster City, Redwood Shores, Oakland, and Fremont, and travels to races in other U.S. cities, Canada and internationally. BAD members organize social events beyond paddling including barbecues, dinner parties, ballroom dancing, clubbing, kayak trips, bowling, broom ball, indoor rock-climbing, laser tag, and much more.
