The Sequoia High School Alumni Association is hosting its 18th annual picnic on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1201 Brewster Ave. in Redwood City. Cost to attend for adults is $50, and a limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $55. The cost is $35 for children under 12 years old. Three college students who graduated from San Mateo public schools went to the Amgen Scholars program at the National Symposium in July. The highly competitive program aims to increase research opportunities for students interested in pursuing careers int he sciences.
Rachel Schonfeld of Redwood City, was named to the Knox College Dean’s List for the 2025 spring term. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must have earned at least 2.5 credits in the term, with a grade point average of 3.6 or better (on a 4.0 scale).
Callie S. McCormick of Burlingame was named to first honors and Riley Amboy Marnelo Schmidt, of San Mateo was named to second honors on the Clark University Spring 2025 Dean’s List. Students must have a GPA of 3.8 or above for first honors or a GPA between 3.50 and 3.79 for second honors.
Ryan Laws of San Mateo received a Bachelor of Science in business administration, magna cum laude from the University of Maryland.
Subrahmanya Jayaraman Chadalavada of South San Francisco, received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland.
Lauren Krueger, Martina Punnonen, Raihan Tanvir and Hanna Weppner of Belmont, Ang Yu of Redwood City, Antonio Monzon Formosa of San Mateo, Pratham Sarvaiya of South San Francisco graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Pranav Bolar, Athena Chien, Cheng Hou, Kirpa Singh and Zane Stokesberry of San Mateo, Nathan Bowman of Redwood City, Jakub Dworakowski of San Carlos, Xiaowei Feng of Foster City, Ian Kwuan of Hillsborough, Rishab Mitra of Half Moon Bay, Jimin Park of Burlingame, Hao Zhou of Foster City graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology.
Taylor Bartels of Woodside and Garret Keyhani of Hillsborough were named to the dean’s list at Hamilton College for earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Ian Kwuan of Hillsborough earned the distinction of faculty honors at the Georgia Institute of Technology for earning a GPA of 4.0.
Viresh Pati, of Woodside, was named to the dean’s list at the Georgia Institute of Technology for earning a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Kylie Rouspil of San Carlos was named to the dean’s list at Linfield University in Oregon for earning a GPA of 3.65 or higher.
Allyson Chin of San Bruno was named to the dean’s list at Purchase College in New York for earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Aidan Braccia of Hillsborough was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court at Belmont University in Tennessee.
Sam Turtle of Belmont, Kate Hansen of Menlo Park, and Simon Clarke of Redwood City, graduated from Bates College in Maine.
Andrew Chesnosky, of Burlingame, was named to the dean’s list at the University of Arizona for earning a GPA of 3.75 or higher.
