Author Joanne Garrison gives an illustrated presentation on her new book, Burlingame Centennial 1908-2008, Saturday at 11 a.m. in the San Mateo County History Museum’s Historic Courtroom A, 2200 Broadway, Redwood City.
Garrison focuses on the early period of Burlingame’s history, looking at how the wealthy of San Mateo County laid Burlingame’s foundations and how the 1906 earthquake affected the history of the area. Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for seniors and students, free for members.

"Reaches the Beaches” was the advertising slogan of the old Ocean Shore Railroad. Follow the tracks and learn about the history of El Granada with a tour starting 10 a.m. Sunday at the old Ocean Shore Railroad Station, 10151 Cabrillo Highway. Walk the arc shaped streets of El Granada, learn about landscape architect Daniel Burnham and his Burnham Plan Map, and admire craftsman style homes, the former Granada Hotel, tree-lined boulevards and sweeping views of the ocean.

Coyote Point’s Wildlife Theater is a highly interactive, humorous look at the bad reputations and common misconceptions that have kept people from hugging snakes and kissing cockroaches for centuries. This live animal presentation gives kids a new appreciation for some of nature’s less popular critters.
Wildlife shows take place at Coyote Point Museum every Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
