Milly Alcock’s ‘punk rock’ Supergirl takes flight as DC bets big on the Woman of Tomorrow
Australian actor Milly Alcock stars as Supergirl in this summer's new DC Studios movie bearing her name. Heading to theaters on June 26, the film finds her character on an intergalactic odyssey of revenge. DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran first noticed Alcock on the “Game of Thrones” prequel series “House of the Dragon.” Since she filmed her cameo for “Superman,” it's been a non-stop ride. Alcock says her character reminded her a lot of herself. She's finding the experience of sudden fame somewhat disorienting and laughs about anyone wanting a toy with her face.
Teens embrace social media and influencers for news but remain skeptical
NEW YORK (AP) — A new survey finds teenagers are more likely to get news from nontraditional sources like social media and influencers than their elders are. Experts say that's likely heralding a generational shift in how people seek out information. The results are from the Media Insight Project. The survey finds 57% of teenagers get daily news from social media, compared with 36% of adults. Similarly, 57% of teens get some news from influencers, compared with 43% of adults. The new poll points to the pervasiveness of social media in teenagers’ lives and shows how more teens are consuming their news from these platforms or independent content creators, rather than directly from national or local news sources.

Movie Review: 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' still has style but the story is overdressed
The second “Devil Wears Prada” plays out a bit like a fashion world “Succession,” with better clothes and a lot less cursing, writes Associated Press Film Writer Jake Coyle in his review. It's a fitfully functional sequel that doesn’t fit its cast nearly as snugly as the 2006 original did. Nostalgia, haute couture and the sheer appeal of Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci will be enough for some to celebrate this 20-year reunion. Fashion trends are notoriously fickle but some things, like Streep and Tucci, never go out of style. But mid-life career changes aren’t nearly as compelling as a newbie assistant thrown into the high-fashion fire. Everyone, even Miranda, is a bit too, well, nice in the sequel.

‘Mormon Wives’ star Taylor Frankie Paul and ex-partner push for protective orders against each other
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Attorneys for reality TV star Taylor Frankie Paul and the father of her 2-year-old son are set to present dueling petitions for protective orders against each other. The case could determine who gets custody of their child. Both Paul and ex-partner Dakota Mortensen have asked a Utah court to turn short-term protective orders into long-term arrangements as the two have accused each other of domestic violence. Paul rose to fame on “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” and was supposed to star in the new season of “The Bachelorette” before its cancellation. Paul and Mortensen's son, Ever, will have a court-appointed lawyer present at Thursday’s hearing.
