No. 5 Carlmont 9, No. 12 Santa Clara 1, 5 1/2 innings
Leading 3-1 going into the bottom of the fifth, the Scots broke loose for six runs. After the Bruins were retired in the top of the sixth, the umpires called the game because of the steady rain.
Carlmont (17-10) will face No. 4 Leland (18-7-2) in a Division I quarterfinal game at 11 a.m. Saturday at West Valley College.
Tyler Desmidt led the offense for the Scots, driving in three runs, including a two-run double in the bottom of the third. Daniel Friis and J.P. Avila added RBI doubles during the six-run fifth.
Jason Korjeff earned the win on the mound for Carlmont, working into the fifth. Santa Clara (15-9-1) loaded the bases with two outs and a 2-0 count before Korjeff was relieved by David Bedrosian, who went on to strike the batter out on three pitches. Gabe Ramirez worked the sixth, allowing a walk.

No. 2 Los Altos 8,
No. 15 Menlo-Atherton 0
The Bears were shutout and limited to just five hits as the Eagles advanced to the CCS Division II quarterfinals Saturday.
Los Altos (22-5) did all of its scoring in just two innings. The Eagles scored three in the bottom of the first and didn’t score again until a five-run sixth.
Cade Galles had two hits for M-A (12-15), including a double. Tyler Nelson, Rowen Barnes, Kyle Hartmanis and Peter Dischler all had a hit apiece for the Bears.
