The Lady Dons (2-0) earned their second straight win to open 2025, navigating a grueling five-setter 20-25, 25-14, 25-27, 28-26, 15-11 at Lowell-SF (1-1). Both of Aragon’s wins have gone to five sets, including at home against Menlo in the Aug. 29 season opener.
Sophomores Poppy McKenzie and Emilia Kunkel each reeled off double-doubles. McKenzie shared the team lead of 18 kills with junior Caitlyn Robertson, while adding a team-high 18 digs, with two blocks and two service aces. Kunkel finished with 17 kills and 15 digs. Setter Devyn Lee also notched a double-double with 36 assists and 11 digs, while senior setter Gabby Xiao finished with 19 assists.
Aragon totaled 11 aces, paced by junior Claire Richards with three, while Lee and Xiao totaled two apiece.
Sacred Heart Prep 3, Riordan 1
Sacred Heart Prep (3-0) rallied back from a Game 1 loss to earn a 17-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-17 win at home over Riordan (2-1). It marks the third straight win to start the year for the Gators.
Sophomore outside hitter Leilah Abrams recorded her third double-double of the year, scoring a team-high 17 kills with 11 digs. Abrams is averaging 4.1 kills and 3.8 digs per set this season. Sophomore Brie Eisenberg and freshman Tiana Veamatahau each recorded career highs with 11 kills apiece.
Setter Kiley McGibben continued her impressive junior campaign with 38 assists, 10 digs and five service aces. Senior libero Peyton Fu-Sarosa added 16 digs and three aces.
