Boys’ tennis
Carlmont 6, Burlingame 1
The Scots’ Milad Shafaie played a great match and defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-2 in No. 1 singles. The lone Burlingame victory came in the No. 1 doubles match where Evan Mahaffey and Eric Broman came out on top 7-6 (4), 6-3.
Aragon 7, Hillsdale 0
The Don’s Ilan Leventhal played extremely well and won the No. 2 single’s match 6-0, 6-1. The Knights came close to securing a victory but felt short in a couple of matches.
Aragon’s Randy Liu and Sean Hsu had an impressive performance and won 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 2 double’s match.
Boys’ Golf
San Mateo 241, South San Francisco 301
Nathan Dujsik led the Bearcats’ when he shot a 46. His teammates Sean Lin and Aden Nolet also did well and carded a 48. The Warrior’s Darrius Amigleo shot a team best 51.
College softball
San Mateo 5, Sacramento 3
A Riley Donovan sixth-inning grand slam capped a five-run inning as the Bulldogs topped the Panthers in a non-conference game, running their winning streak to 25 games in a row.
CSM (32-2) was staring down the barrel of its first loss since a 5-3 decision against Sierra Feb. 17 as Sacramento (25-6) jumped with a three-run, bottom of the first inning.
The score stayed 3-0 nothing until the Bulldogs’ sixth-inning uprising.
Donovan went 2 for 3 with four RBIs for CSM. Kaitlyn Grech added the fifth RBI for the Bulldogs.
Emily McAdams improved to 22-1 on the season in the pitcher’s circle, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out 11.
TUESDAY
Baseball
Sequoia 6, Woodside 2

Ben Singler kicked off all scoring with an explosive two-run home run in the top of the first to help lead the Cherokees to their first PAL Ocean Division win of the season.
Both Woodside (6-7 overall, 2-4 PAL Ocean) RBIs came off the bat of junior Anthony Acevedo in the bottom of the sixth.
Extra innings had to determine a winner in this Redwood City high school rivalry. With the score tied 2-2, Sequoia (4-9, 1-3) went on a hitting streak and secured four runs in the top of the eighth and closed out the Wildcats in the bottom half of the inning.
Softball
Burlingame 7, Capuchino 0
Burlingame (2-2 PAL Bay, 5-2 overall) secured all of their runs in the first four innings of the game.
That proved to be plenty of run-support for Panther pitcher Chloe McNamara. Capuchino failed to establish offensive momentum against McNamara, and she ended up pitching a beautiful game. McNamara pitched a four-hit shutout and struck out seven. She also went 2 for 4 at the plate with two RBIs.
Aragon 3, Hillsdale 2
The Dons (3-1 PAL Bay, 8-3 overall) pulled off the late-inning victory against their San Mateo rival.
The Knights jumped out to the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Hillsdale (3-3, 7-5) held that lead until the top of the sixth when Aragon responded with two runs of their own.
Hillsdale tied the game up and sent the game into extra innings in the final frame, but the Don’s wasted little time and got the game-winning run across in the top of the ninth. Aragon junior Makaila Tuakoi finished the game with two RBIs.
Carlmont 10, Half Moon Bay 0
The Scots (4-1 PAL Bay, 7-4 overall) dominated throughout and scored in every inning except one.
Carlmont starting pitcher Sanni Karhiaho pitched a great game and struck out nine batters in her complete game shutout. Her teammate Ashley Trierweiler led all batters with three hits.
Boys’ Lacrosse
Sacred Heart Prep 16, Piedmont 4
The Gators (12-0 overall) controlled possession for most of the game and held a comfortable 7-3 lead going into halftime in the non-league win over the Highlanders. Sacred Heart Prep expanded on that lead in the second half and the Gators Tommy Barnds finished with a four-goal, five-assist performance. Teammate Larry Hart also ended the game with four goals and one assist.
Boys’ Volleyball
Carlmont 3, Menlo-Atherton 0
The first set came down to the wire, but the Scots held on for the 25-22 victory. Carlmont would go on to win the next two sets 25-13, 25-17. Carlmont junior Ethan Mayoss led the team with 15 kills.
Scot’s sophomore Ryan Tomita had 18 assists and teammate Miles Orzorio added 14 assists.
