The 25th-ranked Bulldogs took the 4trh-ranked Seahawks to the brink before succumbing 24-26, 18-25, 25-17, 25-10, 15-12.
CSM (2-1 Coast Conference North, 15-5 overall) led 8-4 in the fifth, but could not close out a Cabrillo team that is 124-1 in Coast Conference play since 2006.
Hannah Gamez led the CSM attack with 14 kills. Lille Tuivailala added 10 kills and three blocks, while Honoria Aguilar finished with 19 digs.
Girls’ golf
San Mateo 244, Mills 309
San Mateo extended its unbeaten record to 12-0 in PAL Bay Division play at Poplar Creek Golf Course, backed by freshman Lindsey Huang’s medalist round of 42. Sage Tulabing added a 46 for the Bearcats, while Marissa Tung paced Mills with a 48.
Mercy-Burlingame 233, Notre Dame-Belmont 284
Brooke Barron shot a team-best 40 to help Mercy-Burlingame even its West Bay Athletic League record at 6-6. Maya Zeidan shot a 43 and Anais Ko a 47 for the Crusaders. Notre Dame-Belmont’s Avani Tumulun took medalist honors with a 39.

Carlmont 256, Menlo-Atherton 273
Viveka Kurup shot a 42 to lead the Scots to the PAL Bay Division win over the Bears.
Boys’ water polo
Mills 16, Aragon 1
The Vikings (9-0 PAL Ocean, 17-4 overall) continue their undefeated tear through PAL Ocean Division play with a lopsided win over Aragon. Mills junior Nuri Capanoglu was on-point in the near shutout to the tune of 16 saves.
With three matches to go in the regular season, first-place Mills holds a one-game lead over second-place Sequoia. The two division rivals square off on the last day of the season, with the Vikings traveling to Sequoia Oct. 18 for a 4 p.m. start.

Nueva School 3, Design Tech 0
The first-place Nueva School Mavericks (9-0 PSAL North, 11-1 overall) maintained their one-game lead in the Private School Athletic League North Division standings with a 25-23, 25-7, 25-6 win over Design Tech (4-5, 6-8). With five matches to play, Nueva is enjoying its best season in the short four-year history of the program and is looking to earn its first-ever league title.
Sophomore outside hitter Paige Mountanos led the Mavericks with a match-high 14 kills, while junior Piper Holland totaled a match-high 13 digs.
Harker 3, Sacred Heart Prep 0
The Eagles swept the Gators in a WBAL Foothill Division match, 25-19, 25-16, 25-18.
Elena Radeff led SHP with 12 kills. Millie Muir handed out 20 assists. The pair combined for 13 digs.
Notre Dame-Belmont 3, Mercy-SF 0
Sophomore Shea Hanson notched a career-high 13 kills over just two sets as Notre Dame-Belmont (5-1 WBAL Foothill, 20-8 overall) earned its 20th overall win with a 25-21, 25-12, 25-19 win over Mercy-SF (0-6, 12-10). Sophomore middle Kelly Schackel added 11 kills while senior setter Krissy Smoot totaled 47 assists and a team-high 14 digs.
