King’s Academy 3, Carlmont 0
There were two no-hitters Tuesday in the PAL. The first was thrown by Capuchino senior Lola Sierra in a five-inning mercy-rule win over San Mateo. Shortly after that in Belmont, King’s Academy junior Katia Nesper finished out a regulation no-hitter as the Lady Knights (5-4 PAL Bay, 10-7 overall) topped Carlmont.
The junior left-hander recorded a season-high 18 strikeouts while allowing just three baserunners. She fell one shy of her career-high of 19 strikeouts, which she accomplished last season in TKA’s 1-0 win over Notre Dame-Belmont. Nesper now owns three no-hitters in her varsity career, including one earlier this season against Cap.
The Scots (2-7, 5-15) have now dropped sixth straight. They have had their struggles at the plate this season, batting .258 as a team.
Woodside 10, Aragon 0
Junior hurler Hannah Walker pitched through baserunners all afternoon and, in the end, the Wildcats (6-3 PAL Bay, 12-7 overall) had a shutout to show for it, as she fired a six-hit shutout at Aragon (4-5, 8-13). Walker issued three walks and had one error behind her, but worked some magic as the Lady Dons stranded 10 runners in the game. Junior Vanessa Carlos paced Woodside with two hits and four RBIs, while junior Mo Overbey also totaled two hits. Aragon sophomore Taylor Workman recorded a team-high two hits. With the win, Walker improves her record to 12-5 with a 2.03 ERA.
Menlo-Atherton 7, South City 6
The Bears (11-6) trailed twice in the game, but rallied back to score a walk-off win at home in non-league action against South City (9-7). The Warriors jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the second, but M-A scored four in the bottom of the second, and tied it with a single run in the fourth. The two teams traded single runs in the fifth before M-A rallied in its last at-bat. Sophomore Juliana Pandolfo paced the Bears with three hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Senior Faith Schubin added a single with two RBIs, while sophomore Gracy Nava totaled two hits, while persevering in the circle to earn the complete-game victory.
Terra Nova 8, Santa Clara 4
The Tigers (6-10) scored in each of the first five innings to win their second straight in non-league play at home against Santa Clara (7-9). Kylie Gangi and Layla Tassio recorded two hits apiece for Terra Nova, whle Gigi Pelleriti had a double with two RBIs. Jordan Guzman and Jazzy Ramirez paced the Bruins with two hits apiece. Ramirez had a double, a triple and one RBI, and Guzman added a double with an RBI.
Burlingame 1, Hillsdale 0
Panthers hurlers Aditi Bafna and Kiley Lyons sure have had Hillsdale’s number this season as, for the second time, the sophomores on Burlingame (2-7 PAL Bay, 5-10 overall) shut out the No. 12-ranked Lady Knights (5-4, 13-7-1). The final score in both games was 1-0. Bafna earned the win Tuesday with five innings of work, allowing three hits and one walk. Lyons closed it out with two perfect innings. Burlingame scored the game’s only run in the second on an RBI from Amalia Alfers to score junior Samantha Arce. Arce paced Burlingame with two hits. Hillsdale sophomore Maddie Pena went the distance in the circle, allowing one run on three hits with six strikeouts in the hard-luck loss.

Terra Nova 3, Aragon 2
Terra Nova closer Cooper Santamato stopped the bleeding in the bottom of the seventh as the Tigers (8-2 PAL Ocean, 15-5-1 overall) escaped with a critical win at Aragon (4-6, 7-14). With the win, second-place Terra Nova remains a half-game behind Menlo School in the PAL Ocean standings, while third-place Woodside still trailed the Tigers by 2 1/2 games. Aragon is still mathematically alive for the second automatic postseason bid in the Ocean Division, but falls to four games back of second place with four games to play.
The Tigers took a 3-0 lead into the seventh Tuesday, with sophomore starting pitcher Jesse Martinez looking to go the distance. Martinez didn’t get an out in the seventh, and finished with six-plus innings of work, allowing one run (none earned) on one hit, five walks and two hit batsmen, while striking out two. Santamato logged one inning, allowing one run on two hits and two walks, while striking out two.
Senior Luke Ornelas paced Terra Nova with three hits, with a double and an RBI. Junior Evan Wilson added two hits with a double.
South City 15, Jefferson 0
Junior Gio Bernal went 2 for 4 with a double, a triple and four RBIs at the plate, and fired four innings of two-hit shutout ball to lead the Warriors (9-1 PAL Lake, 16-4 overall) to the win at Jefferson (0-10, 0-17). Sophomore Vince Bernal added three hits with a double, two RBIs and four runs scored, and senior Gabe Martin had three hits with a double, two RBIs and three runs. Sophomore right-hander Josh Nabung closed out the day with three scoreless innings of relief to earn the save. Gio Bernal and Nabung combined for 17 strikeouts.
Menlo School 1, Half Moon Bay 0
Freshman right-hander Reid Plamondon made his second start of the year for Menlo (8-1 PAL Ocean, 13-8 overall), and is still unscored upon through 13 innings as a starter, as he fired six scoreless frames in a pitchers’ duel at Half Moon Bay (4-5, 8-13). Menlo scored one run in the fifth inning against HMB left-hander Kai Kung, with junior Jack Freehill producing an RBI single to drive home Renner Barnett. Freehill earned the save, firing a shutout seventh with two strikeouts. Plamondon allowed five hits and four walks while striking out five to improve his record to 3-1. Kung went the distance, allowing one unearned run on four hits with six strikeouts in the hard-luck loss.
Crystal 11, Westmoor 8
The Gryphons (8-2 PAL Lake, 15-2 overall) got a two-way jolt from Rohan Seiber, who earned the win on the mound while driving in four runs at the plate, in a win at Sea Cloud Park over Westmoor (3-6, 7-7). Seiber pitched through eight runs (seven earned) on three hits, six walks, one hit batsmen, and three Crystal errors to earn the win. Christopher Campana fired 2 2/3 scoreless innings to earn his first varsity save. He was 2 for 4 with a double at the plate, while Brandon Ma added two hits and three RBIs, Tyler Hanebrink two hits and two RBIs, and Marcus Kao and Nico Abad two hits apiece. Nicholas Au was 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Rams, while Matthew Cote and Cristian Fausto added two hits apiece.
More 3, Summit Shasta 1
More starting pitcher Sean Selway and Shasta starter Milo Jung both went the distance, but More-San Jose (7-1 PSAL, 10-8 overall) used a two-run home run by senior Quentin Vogel to come away with the win at home against the Black Bears (6-1, 9-9). Selway allowed one unearned run on two hits, two walks and two hit batsmen, while striking out 10. Jung allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits, five walks and one hit batter through six to take the loss. Jung and freshman Aaron Mendoza recorded the only two hits for Shasta.
Design Tech 15, KIPP Collegiate 1
The Dragons (9-2 PSAL, 10-7 overall) used a nine-run second inning to put the game on ice in blowout of KIPP-Collegiate-San Jose (0-7, 0-9) at the Belmont Sports Complex. Seniors Isaac Wood and Eoin Halili recorded two hits and two RBIs apiece for Design Tech, while Maddox Hom had two hits with a double and an RBI, and freshman Charles Poole also tabbed two hits. The Dragons totaled 14 hits as a team to improve their season average to .353 as a team. Four Dragons pitchers combined on a one-hitter, with Hom firing two perfect innings with six strikeouts. Wood, Poole and freshman Josiah Hernandez worked one inning apiece in the shortened five-inning contest.
