Sacred Heart Prep 4, Mills 0
USC commit Rallin Covey turned in the finest start of his four-year varsity career, firing a two-hit shutout as the Gators (4-1 PAL Ocean, 10-4 overall) earned their fifth straight win at home against Mills (0-3, 3-7). Covey scattered six baserunners, while notching a career-high 14 strikeouts. It marks the third shutout of the senior right-hander’s career, his last coming when he was a sophomore with a three hitter March 15, 2024, in a 4-0 win over Carlmont. His first was as a freshman, April 5, 2023, in a 5-0 win over Rancho San Juan in his varsity debut.
SHP got on the board in the first inning against Mills junior Tino Janke. Senior Nico Pollioni led off with a double, and later scored on a throwing error on a wheel steal. Kyle Sweeney then singled home a run to make it 2-0. In the fifth, junior JP Durrett upped the lead to 4-0 with a two-run double. Durrett paced SHP with two hits.
