The CSM baseball team won its fourth-straight game with a 9-1 decision over visiting Shasta Friday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (6-2) scored nine runs on 10 hits, hitting the ball hard in the process. CSM had six extra-base hits — a double, three triples and two home runs. The Bulldogs scored in every inning except three innings.
Former San Mateo High standout, sophomore Robbie McDonald, had a big day, coming up with a double and two-run home run, finishing with three RBIs. Former Serra star Tony Cozzolino had a triple and two RBIs. Michael Aicardi, who won the West Catholic Athletic League hitting title last season, rapped out two triples. Catcher Matt Canepa added a solo shot.
Pitcher Ben Langridge pitched six scoreless innings before tiring in the seventh. After giving up a run, Ryan Peters came on with the bases loaded and two outs. He got out of the inning without any further damage and pitched the final two innings.
CSM swimmers can't keep up with Chabot
The Bulldogs dropped their season-opening dual meet with defending Coast Conference champion Chabot.
The women lost 138-80 while the men fell 148-71.
Despite the loss, there were some standout swims. Allyson Laughton took first in the 100 breast stroke and second in the 200 IM. Audrey Masterson was first in the 100 fly and third in the 200 IM. Michelle Mughannam took home second in the 500 free and was second in the 50 free. Samantha Seminoff was second in the 50 free and Jean Kelly was third in the 100 free.
On the men's side, Quin O'Hara took a first and second in the 100 free and 200 back, respectively. Matt Howie was second in the 200 breast and third in the 100 free while Pat McNichol finished second in the 50 free.
NDNU season ends
The Notre Dame de Namur men's basketball season ended with a 69-59 loss to Cal State Hayward in the Cal Pac Conference tournament.
NDNU (18-13) led 30-28 at halftime but was outscored 41-29 in the second half.
The Argonauts had three players score in double figures, led by Chris Clock's 13. Keith Miyakusu added 12 and Jason Billie had 10.
