With the game tied 3-3 after three innings, Pacifica rallied for two runs in the fourth and added five in the sixth to advance through the winners’ bracket against San Mateo American at District Field.
Miles Tucker gave Pacifica the lead with an RBI double to left to drive home Lincoln Balagot. Preston Diao then singled and Jackson Painter walked to load the bases, and Aiden Fitzpatrick followed with a bases-loaded walk to force home Tucker.
Pacifica racked up 17 hits in the contest, with Painter going 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, and Mason Agbulos adding three hits. Balagot was 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs.
American trailed 3-0 early, but rallied to tie it in the third. Noah Jones got his team on the board with a two-run triple to plate Sohan Jain and Calvin Seeley. Jameson Stoloski then reached on an error to bring home Jain, tying it 3-all.
Tucker earned the win in relief for Pacifica, allowing one run (none earned) on three hits through three innings of work. Starting pitcher Chase Tevis worked 2 1/3 innings, and MJ Spears closed it out with two-thirds innings. Armstrong, Grayson McLaughlin, Drew Kettmann, Stoloski and Noah Jones pitched for American.
With the win, Pacifica advances through the winners’ bracket to the tournament semifinals to face San Mateo National, Saturday, at 10 a.m. American falls to the elimination bracket for a Friday matchup with Alpine.
San Mateo National 10, Menlo-Atherton 0
Zach Piccinini connected for a three-run blast amid a seven-run third inning, and San Mateo National added three runs in the fifth to earn a mercy-rule win over Menlo-Atherton at District Field.
Piccinini was 2 for 3 with four RBIs in the game, while Mason Lanbrechts, Joel Price and Sam DePuy also drove in runs.
National arms Mayson Jusino and Jack Hurley took care of the rest. Jusino earned the win, firing four shutout innings, allowing two hits and one hit batsman, while striking out three. Hurley closed it out in the bottom of the fifth, allowing one hit to start the inning, but inducing a double play before serving up a grounder to second baseman Kaleb Lee to end it.
Henry Smith, William Clark, Colin Spicer and Ryder Braniff pitched for M-A. Dom Napoli tallied a double for one of M-A’s three hits in the contest.
With the win, National advances through the winners’ bracket to the tournament semifinals to face Pacifica, Saturday, at 10 a.m. Menlo-Atherton falls to the elimination bracket for a Friday matchup with Hillsborough.
