Division I
No. 8 Sequoia 46, No. 9 Watsonville 38
The Ravens (12-13) overcame a slight 15-14 deficit at the end of the first quarter to win their CCS opener for the second straight year. The loss in Redwood City snapped a three-game winning streak for Watsonville (12-14). Sequoia now advances to Tuesday’s Division I quarterfinals, traveling to face No. 1 Milpitas at 7 p.m.
The only other county team in the boys’ Division I tournament is Carlmont. Seeded No. 3, the Scots earned a bye into the quarterfinals and will host Tuesday against unseeded North Salinas, who knocked off No. 6 Homestead 66-65 Saturday.
Division II
No. 7 Aragon 61, No. 10 Hillsdale 55
After dropping an emotion Jan. 30 regular-season matchup at Hillsdale, the Dons (20-5) bounced back to end their crosstown rival’s season at Aragon. It is the third time the teams have met this season, with Aragon taking the series 2 games to 1. It marks the fifth straight win for Aragon since the last time the two met. Hillsdale (14-12) was playing a back-to-back after winning Friday’s play-in game 55-39 at home against Lincoln-San Jose. The Dons now travel to Gilroy to take on No. 2 Christopher Tuesday at 7 p.m.
No. 11 Woodside 56, No. 6 Monta Vista 53
The Wildcats (15-11) pulled off a second-round upset at home, rallying past Monta Vista (14-10) for their fourth straight victory. Woodside navigated a back-to-back after a 57-45 win Friday night over Sobrato-Morgan Hill in Friday’s playoff opener. Next up, the Wildcats travel to No. 3 St. Francis-Mountain View for a Tuesday showdown at 7 p.m.
Division III
No. 11 Mills 56, No. 6 Santa Cruz 52
The Vikings (11-14) made the trip down Highway 17 worth it, as they dealt Santa Cruz (11-15) a CCS second-round upset. It marks the second straight year Mills has won its playoff opener. Mills is guaranteed to play on the road for the rest of the CCS tournament, and will now travel to No. 3 Pioneer-San Jose for Tuesday’s quarterfinal round. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
No. 7 Saratoga 70, No. 10 El Camino 69
The Colts (15-11) saw their season come to an end in a double-overtime flurry, falling on the road at Saratoga (16-9). The two teams played neck-and-neck the whole way, with El Camino holding a slight 47-46 advantage going into the fourth quarter. The Colts were coming off a win in Friday’s play-in opener 54-36 over Del Mar-San Jose.
Division IV
No. 7 Jefferson 68, No. 10 Harbor 35
After dropping 9 of 10 to close the regular season, the Grizzlies (8-17) earned a higher seed to open the CCS playoffs, and traveled to Harbor-Santa Cruz (14-12) for the program’s first playoff win since 2022-23. Jefferson now gets an all-PAL showdown in Tuesday’s quarterfinals, traveling to No. 2 Half Moon Bay for a 7 p.m. start.
No. 8 Terra Nova 63, No. 9 Monte Vista Christian 45
The Tigers (9-16) opened on an 18-10 run and won all four quarters to knock off Monte Vista Christian (19-7) in Pacifica. Terra Nova now advances to the quarterfinals to travel to No. 1 Sacred Heart Prep against a Gators team that earned a bye through the first two rounds of the bracket. Tipoff in Atherton is slated for 7:30 p.m.
Division V
No. 6 Summit Shasta 69, No. 11 Pacific Collegiate 36
The Black Bears (19-6) opened on a 24-10 run and never let up in a home win over Pacific Collegiate-Santa Cruz (6-19). The Pumas were coming off a win in Friday’s play-in game 59-50 over York-Monterey to snap a 14-game losing streak. Summit Shasta now travels to No. 3 Oakwood-Morgan Hill Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The only other county team in the Division V boys’ tournament is No. 4 Crystal. The Gryphons earned a bye into the quarterfinals, and will host No. 5 Pinewood Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Girls’ basketball
Division I
No. 6 Carlmont 62, Palo Alto 48
The Scots (14-11) took care of business in their CCS opener, eliminating unseeded Palo Alto (19-8) in Belmont. Carlmont, having won 3 of its last 4, now travels to No. 3 Homestead-Cupertino for a quarterfinal matchup Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The only other county team in the Division I girls’ tourney is No. 1 Menlo-Atherton. The Bears earned a bye into Tuesday’s quarterfinal and will host No. 8 Cupertino at 7 p.m.
Division II
No. 6 San Mateo 60, No. 11 Leland 50
Junior bigs Violet MacAvoy and Kaitlyn Schuh each logged an impressive double-doubles, and the Bearcats (13-12) used a 25-5 second-quarter run to handle Leland-San Jose (13-13) in the second round of the CCS tournament in San Mateo. MacAvoy finished with 28 points and 14 rebounds, while Schuh added 21 points and 18 rebounds. Junior guard Samantha Liu came off the bench to add seven points.
San Mateo now earns a short road trip across town to face No. 3 Aragon in the quarterfinals Tuesday at 7 p.m. Aragon earned a bye through the first two rounds of the tournament.
Division III
No. 7 Del Mar 36, No. 10 El Camino 32
In a matchup of the same two schools from Friday’s Division III boys’ tournament opener, Del Mar-San Jose (21-5) got revenge for El Camino knocking off its boys’ team with a win in San Jose over the Lady Colts (9-16). The Lady Dons now advance to face No. 2 Santa Cruz Tuesday night.

Top-seed Mills opens play in the Division III bracket Tuesday after receiving a bye through to the quarterfinals. The Lady Vikings will host No. 9 North Monterey County-Castroville at 7 p.m.
Division IV
No. 8 Terra Nova 64, No. 9 Pacific Grove 45
The Tigers (13-10) opened the postseason with a home win over Pacific Grove (8-18), and have now won 4 of their last 5. Terra Nova now advances to the quarterfinals for a trip to No. 1 Notre Dame-Belmont. The Tigers earned a bye through the first two rounds of the bracket.
The winner will face No. 4 Menlo. The Lady Knights received a bye into the quarterfinals, and open play Tuesday, hosting No. 5 King’s Academy at 6 p.m.
No. 7 Stevenson 68, No. 10 Jefferson 51
The Grizzlies (11-14) saw their season come to an end on the road at Stevenson-Pebble Beach (13-12). The Pirates will now travel to No. 2 Scotts Valley for Tuesday’s quarterfinal round. Jefferson won Friday’s play-in game 58-24 at home against unseeded Design Tech.
Division V
No. 5 Crystal 55, No. 12 Anzar 15
The Gryphons (12-7) opened on a 22-3 run and never let off the gas, rolling to a win over Anzar-San Juan Bautista (12-11) in Hillsborough. Crystal now travels to No. 4 Pacific Collegiate-Santa Cruz for a quarterfinal showdown Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Also in the Division V bracket is No. 3 Summit Shasta. The Black Bears earned a bye through the first two rounds of the bracket, and open play Tuesday at home against No. 6 St. Francis-Watsonville.
FRIDAY
Boys’ basketball
Open Division
No. 1 Riordan 80, No. 8 Serra 61
Serra (13-12) ran into the reigning CIF Nor Cal Open Division champs for the second time in seven days with the same result, dropping their CCS opener at Rossi Gym. The playoff opener for both teams was a faster paced game than their Feb. 14 matchup, when the Crusaders (24-1) won 54-42 at Serra.
Next up in Open Division pool play, Serra travels to No. 5 King’s Academy Wednesday for a 7 p.m. tipoff. Riordan will host No. 4 Bellarmine Wednesday at 7 p.m.
No. 2 St. Ignatius 76, No. 7 Menlo-Atherton 60
The only CCS team to lose to Riordan by a single-digit margin this season was St. Ignatius (22-3), doing so twice, including a 100-95 overtime loss in a thrilling regular-season finale. The Wildcats took care of business hosting their CCS opener against Menlo-Atherton (21-4), as the PAL Bay Division champion Bears had their 15-game winning streak snapped. M-A will now travel to No. 6 Valley Christian for Wednesday’s second round of CCS Open Division pool play for a 7 p.m. start. St. Ignatius will host No. 3 Mitty Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Division II
No. 9 Lynbrook 56, San Mateo 51
Unseeded San Mateo (11-14) gave Lynbrook-San Jose a run for its money, opening on a 23-14 run. Lynbrook (19-7) rallied back to take the lead to close the first half, though, on a 3-pointer by Charlie Looper, as part of a 16-0 run extending into the third quarter. The season-ending loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Bearcats.
Girls’ basketball
Open Division
No. 1 Mitty 89, No. 8 Half Moon Bay 23
Reigning CIF Nor Cal Open Division champion Mitty (23-2) took care of business the first game of CCS pool play, rolling to the home win over Half Moon Bay (19-6). The Cougars scored 11 points in a 29-11 first quarter and were held to 12 points through the rest of the game. HMB now travels to No. 4 St. Ignatius for a Monday pool play matchup at 6 p.m. Mitty hosts No. 5 St. Francis Monday at 6 p.m.
Division II
No. 10 Sobrato 52, Burlingame 38
The unseeded Panthers (11-14) saw their season come to an end with a loss at Sobrato-San Jose (14-9) in the play-in round. Burlingame was a late qualifier to the CCS postseason field, earning a Feb. 10 win 49-36 at home against Woodside to clinch a .500 record in PAL Ocean Division play.
No. 12 Wilcox 41, Woodside 38
Unseeded Woodside (16-8) had its season ended in play-in game at Wilcox-San Jose (13-12). It marks the Wildcats’ second straight trip to the postseason, and their third in the last four seasons. Woodside’s last playoff win came in the abbreviated 2020-21 season.
Division IV
No. 11 Gunderson 35, Mercy-Burlingame 31
Unseeded Mercy-Burlingame (7-17) was eliminated in a road trip to Gunderson-San Jose (17-8). The Bears finished their season on a nine-game losing streak.
Division V
SF Christian 35, No. 9 Nueva School 32
Julia Randolph scored 13 points for Nueva, and junior Willa Beard added 10, but it was not enough as unseeded San Francisco Christian (13-5) scored an upset at Nueva School (12-10). SF Christian went on to an elimination loss Saturday night 33-32 at Eastside College Prep.
