Hartnell 8, Cañada 7
The Colts (2-3 Coast Pacific, 11-12 overall) took a 7-5 lead into the bottom of the eighth, but could not hold off home-team Hartnell. The first-place Panthers (5-0, 8-14) rallied for a three-run eighth off Cañada relievers Chris Zaldana and Sergio Noriega, with a two-run single by Tim Burkhardt swinging Hartnell into the lead. Burkhardt paced all hitters with three knocks on the day. Noriega took the loss, dropping his record to 0-2. Sam Terry and Alex Athanacio had two hits apiece for the Colts.

Sacred Heart Prep 6, Los Gatos 3
Sacred Heart Prep (7-1) won its fifth straight, and did so in comeback fashion on the road against Los Gatos (4-3). Gators starting pitcher Angelo Tonas surrendered three runs in the first inning, but bounced back with six zeroes to earn the complete-game victory. The senior left-hander’s record improves to 2-0. SHP rallied back, scoring two in the second and two more in the third. Senior Kyle Cody paced the Gators with three hits, and junior Yianni Gardner and senior John McGrory had two hits apiece.
SHP is slated to open Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division play Wednesday, hosting rival Menlo School at 4 p.m., weather permitting.

Menlo (3-5) dropped its second straight game Saturday, falling 5-4 in a seventh-inning walk-off at Gunn-Palo Alto.
Palo Alto 3, Carlmont 1
The Scots (4-2) couldn’t solve Palo Alto sophomore right-hander Dean Casey, who worked six innings to claim the win. Carlmont managed just five hits in the contest. Scots starter Jordan Brandenburg was stung by four errors in the opening three frames, when Paly (6-3) scored all its runs. The senior right-hander worked three innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits while walking three and striking out five. Leadoff hitter David Bedrosian provided most of the offense for the Scots, going 3 for 4 on the day.

Monterey Peninsula 4, Skyline 1
Skyline starting pitcher Sean Craig allowed one run over his first seven innings, but home-team Monterey (3-3 Coast Pacific, 11-11 overall) broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth by getting to the sophomore right-hander for two more runs. Monterey rallied for three in the eighth, including one run off reliever Eric Rocha. Skyline managed just two hits on the day. Kaleb Keelean gave the Trojans (2-4, 6-17) a 1-0 lead in the second with an RBI single. But Monterey starter Nick Sassarini settled in to go the distance and earn the win.
Chabot 8, CSM 3
Chabot (4-2 Coast Golden Gate, 10-12 overall) scored four runs in the fourth off starting pitcher Wyatt Tucker and added four more in the eighth against the College of San Mateo bullpen to win a battle for second place in the Coast Conference Golden Gate at Bulldog Stadium. CSM (3-3, 13-9) totaled 13 hits but stranded 14 runners throughout. The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI double by Keolu Ramos. Trailing 4-1 in the sixth, CSM got a two-run single from Sean Prozell but went on to strand the bases loaded. CSM went on to load the bases with one out in each the seventh and ninth innings, but both rallies ended on groundball double plays.
