Jason Hardee is planning a subdued New Year's Eve but if he and his West Virginia (8-4) teammates can beat Maryland (9-3) on New Year's Day, expect Hardee to cut loose a night later.
A former Serra High and College of San Mateo football standout, Hardee will be the Mountaineers' starting defensive end in the Gator Bowl on Jan. 1.
Hardee is visiting home before heading for Jacksonville, Fl. on Christmas Day to begin preparations for the bowl game.
Hardee went to West Virginia as tight end but was converted to defensive end this past spring.
