You don’t have to understand it

The issue clearly isn’t about cultural impact — it’s about language. I suppose people have forgotten that Shakira performed in the Super Bowl less than five years ago, maybe people knew Spanish then and have seemed to forget it — or maybe they just didn’t care when she sang in another language and just … listened to the music (world’s most popular halftime show outside of the United States by the way).

It’s also fascinating to see just how many people don’t understand that Bad Bunny, a Puerto Rican born singer, is an American. For one Super Bowl, people are just going to have to listen to someone speak Spanish, the second-most spoken language in the country. You don’t have to understand it to listen and maybe like it.
