Editor,
How exciting it was to hear that our San Mateo County Board of Supervisors have unanimously voted to distribute $30 million to affordable housing projects within our county.
Finally, all of our cities will contribute to addressing the shortage of affordable housing to, in board President Dave Pine’s words, “help make our county a stronger and more equitable community for everyone.”
Wait a second, stop the presses, hold on everybody. I just realized that only the lesser affluent cities have received funding to locate these projects in their communities. Cities like Hillsborough, Atherton, Portola Valley and Woodside have been totally neglected.
Why don’t they get funding for affordable housing in their communities? How is this fair to them and how is this equitable? Why would our supervisors deny them the honor of participating in this program? Don’t they want to welcome this type of housing and class of residents to their elite communities?
Lots of unanswered questions but only our county supervisors’ campaign donors lists would know.

You'd get a lot more housing for the dollar where land is far less expensive which is decidedly not in the towns you mentioned.
