Editor,

The story ("Jury out on panel antics" in the Aug. 29 edition) about the trial of the both men accused of the shooting death of Raymond Gardner made me feel disgusted and appalled toward the citizens of California and the lawyers involved with the case. To hear of the childish, immature games being played in the court and within the juror panel itself really shows the American citizens, or at least California citizens, the horrible rocky road our judicial system and community is coming to. It hurts to see that fulfilling our right as citizens of the United States of America to be a part of the system, which everyone complains about, but none the less, has become such a hassle and unappreciative obligation. People in other countries would have died for the rights that we all have, and this court and the people involved are making a mockery of the judicial system and the trial is being directed by an incompetent judge whom obviously doesn't know how to control his courtroom and isn't taking in all these facts of misconduct by the jurors and attorneys toward this trial that may lead to consequences later. What is America coming to?
