Editor,

I was reading the Daily Journal and in the Oct. 23 edition I could not believe it: on the front page “Sales tax promises congestion relief” by Zachary Clark. Just like all the other promises that have been made to ease congestion. Yeah, right. So let me get this right: first we got a .12 cent per gallon tax and a vehicle registration increase this past year for “highway maintenance.”

Did you get your big glossy mailer from the Yes on W committee? The disclaimer says it all: "Major funding from Facebook, Genentech and Bohannon Organization" a major developer. First they create the congestion, then they want us to tax ourselves to solve their problem.

Uh, no. Developers aren't responsible congestion; that falls squarely on the shoulders of municipalities that underfund their public transportation systems and don't ensure enough housing is built in tandem with office space.

*for congestion
