Editor,

The heart-wrenching images of starving children in Gaza raise important questions. Why are there never photos showing groups of starving children — only individuals? In many of these images, others around the child do not appear malnourished. Are only young children starving? Why are there no pictures of starving adults? In one case, Israeli television identified a child featured in a widely circulated photo, revealing that the image was outdated. The child had been transferred by the Israeli government to Italy for medical treatment and is now reportedly in good health. Ultimately, this so-called starvation could end immediately — with the return of all the hostages.

Hamas has chosen to use starving Palestinian children as a weapon against Israel. Hamas started the war against Israel and Israel has no choice but to defend itself from Hamas who has been armed to the teeth by Iran. If Hamas's war is so just, why are Arab Islamic nations asking Hamas to stop it's war against Israel?

Stanley - are you telling us that these kids and other adults are standing in line with their rusty utensils because they have nothing else to do? Do you believe they are "extras" for Hamas photo shoots? Do you expect starving adults to also stand in line for this pathetic spectacle to get a scoop of gruel? The IDF is not letting reporters in so we have to rely on Hamas-sanctioned reporting which we know is thoroughly compromised. But, the background of immense destruction is clearly visible which should make all of us wonder how anyone can survive in that calamity. As others have said before, perhaps Netanyahu needs to move on and Israel needs a new administration that can end this disaster because the incumbent one is leading the country further into the abyss.

Starvation denialism? I take my info from Doctors without Borders and other aid groups.

Thanks for your letter, Mr. Coal. It should be noted that a recent photo of an emaciated child from Gaza has been reported to be a lie. HonestReporting highlighted inconsistencies in the photo and reportedly, the child suffers from a muscle disorder. Regardless, as you say, this so-called starvation could end immediately — with the return of all the hostages. More power to Netanyahu to finish his mission. As any victim from either side is another victim of Hamas launching their surprise attack on Israel.

This is disgusting. I can’t believe this was given space here. There is overwhelming coverage from multiple sources showing children are starving and dying. It was foreseeable and preventable - millions of people are trapped and virtually no food has been allowed in for months. Educate yourself on the effects of famine on children. I am angry with this paper - is the San Mateo Daily Journal going to give equal space to holocaust deniers next? Those people often say they are “just asking questions” too. I know the holocaust happened and it is a stain on our history. This is too. Maybe the SMDJ is trying to pump up readership by pressing people’s buttons? If I wanted that I could spend 10 seconds reading posts on X. Really, WTF?

Yes, his viewpoint is disgusting to me too. But I do not condone censorship, which is what you repeatedly advocate that the SMDJ should do.

The Trumpers and Zionist are censoring and arresting voices standing up for the Palestinians cause. On these pages, liberals regularly advocate censorship against anyone that argues with the government's climate or vaccine narratives. Massive censorship is going on by Tech companies through for example filtering of search engine results and other algorythms.

You or anybody else deciding what people can and cannot hear is not the way it works in a free society!
