Editor,
This letter is in response to a letter to Ross Foti titled "Pro-life and Proud."
Mr. Foti, I strongly agree with your opinion and beliefs, but they're your opinions and your beliefs, and it goes without saying that you have changed "many people's opinions." I acknowledge your commitment and determination to "educate" our young children with your wisdom and guidance.
However, when your signs disrupt business and their education to be an outstanding business, that is, as simply as I can say, where you cross the line.
Currently, your signs are like "welcome" signs to some businesses on Palm Avenue. You "legally" post them on your own polls, knowing that if you posted them on telephones, it would be illegal. However, when my customers, customers I have had for over 20 years, tell me that they are taking their business elsewhere because of your signs, I feel that you are violating my rights. Protesters who walk picket lines have laws to obey, the signs/posters must be held. Otherwise, the sign by itself is garbage, not the opinion of any one person.
Mr. Foti, God does bless us all, but sometimes people take that blessing to extremes. As a business owner and citizen of this community, I ask you to keep your signs to yourself, to not speak for others and to keep the "welcome signs" away from our driveways and on yourself, for it is your "freedom of speech," not ours.
