Responding to the article “425 apartments move ahead” in the June 25 edition of the San Mateo Daily Journal regarding the San Bruno Planning Commission approving the proposed enormous housing development at the current Mills Park Center, I take exception to the comment that it would “replace empty commercial buildings and parking lots formerly known as Mills Park Center.”
Currently, there are many open businesses including restaurants and very few empty units in this complex, as well as the plots of land outside of the center on the site of the former San Bruno Ford dealership. Drive by sometime and try to park to enjoy a meal at one of the restaurants, get a haircut, your eyes checked, or ship a package at the UPS store, all of which are open for business. This development will ruin our suburban neighborhood and cause a massive increase in traffic congestion.
