This is late in replying to the excellent guest perspective of Feb. 14 by Taso Zografos entitled Restore parking for North Humboldt Street. I am writing to encourage him to run for mayor of San Mateo and for the process to change so that mayors are elected, not rotated from the City Council.
Mr. Zografos has the intelligence and experience to actually accomplish what needs to be done now, to responsibly spend taxpayers funds, and show the leadership that is so much needed in San Mateo, and not receiving from the current City Council
Our current City Council is so focused on useless projects that it has lost touch with reality and lack the ability to get things done to benefit all residents of the city. Traffic law enforcement, more police, more stop lights, and beautifying the ugly downtown and approaches to the city on historic El Camino Real will benefit everyone. There are at least 37 streetlights not functioning on El Camino Real in San Mateo. I am sure Mr. Zografos could work with Caltrans to get these fixed. Please run for mayor.
Since Lisa Nash is running for Board of Sups, Taso can run in district one against Cliff Robbins and anyone else who is interested. Let the games begin!
