So why didn’t the House even put up for a vote the border solution agreed upon by reps. from both parties? The answer is simple: Because Trump told them not to, since it would make Biden look too good! Is that so hard to understand, or don’t you follow the real news at all, and instead complain and expose your ignorance? How Trumpian!
Btw.: You don’t even understand how the war in Europe can affect us very directly and deeply, if we are dumb enough not to support Ukraine, and let Putin have his way in Europe, - country by country!
Jorg, your memory or ideology fails you. When Trump was President the borders were secure and there were NO WARS. Biden walks softly and carries an ice cream cone. Trump walked softly and carried a hatchet.
Biden could close the border with the stroke of a pen, the same he made $ billions of students loans disappear at the expense of responsible Americans. If you are willing to read below, you will be educated regarding a President's power, even a President with Alzheimers.
Section 212 (f) of the immigration and Naturalization Act -
f. Suspension of entry or imposition of restrictions by President
Presidential authority to suspend / Restrict entry by proclamation. Whenever the president finds that the entry of any aliens, or of any class of aliens into the United States, would be detrimental to the interest of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens, or any class of aliens as immigrants or non immigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens ANY restrictions he may deem to be appropriate
That you could watch Trump fawning all over Putin, Xi, and Kim Jong Un and collecting millions of dollars personally from the Russians and the Chinese and then believe that he was strong or acting in the best interest of our country is baffling.
Congress needs to act on border and immigration. It is their job and they have been studiously avoiding it for decades.
It would also be helpful if we addressed some of the problems we are causing south of the border with the massive flow of guns from the US to the drug cartels. But that would require going against the gun cartels in the US and cutting into their profits, so that obviously won't fly!
Westy - your typical liberal clap trap. Trump is not fawning but stating the obvious. These dictators are smarter than that yokel that we now have in the WH. Trump believes that one catches more flies with honey than with vinegar. Or, keep your friends close but your enemies closer. We had no conflicts at all when Trump was in office. And where did you get the idea that he made millions of dollars from the Russians and China. Aren't you confused with the Biden Mafia? The only guns that were legally transported over the border were blessed by Obama, or have you forgotten that too?
Sorry, did you read, or did you comprehend? The President has ALL the power to close the border and restrict entry and the US BORDER was closed prior to Joe being sworn in. Section 212 (f) of the immigration and Naturalization Act provides all the power Joey needs. . The same way Joe reopened the border by executive action, he can close it.
Jan 20, 2021 Joe Biden Executive action " Stop Border Wall Construction
Bipartisan majorities in Congress refused in 2019 to fund President Trump’s plans for a massive wall along our southern border, even after he shut down the government over this issue. He then wastefully diverted billions of dollars to that construction. By proclamation, President-elect Biden will today declare an immediate termination of the national emergency declaration that was used as a pretext to justify some of the funding diversions for the wall. The proclamation directs an immediate pause in wall construction projects to allow a close review of the legality of the funding and contracting methods used, and to determine the best way to redirect funds that were diverted by the prior Administration to fund wall construction."
Ever heard of Operation Fast and Furious with Eric Holder of the FBI? - its the US government that is giving these guns to the cartels. And that's only what these clowns got caught for.
Again, Not So Common, thanks for a great response. Please save the comment for future cutting/pasting when Jorg or Westy or another rabid leftie attempts to again pass fake news and lies. I’d also like to remind readers that Jorg has no problems with Chuck Schumer and complicit Dems prioritizing politics over our kids when Schumer refused to bring up a gun safety bill. Based on Jorg’s multiple years of “orange man bad” rants, I’d find it very hard to believe, perhaps even impossible, that Jorg is interested in Making America Great Again so the fact Jorg is pushing this particular border solution means it’s bad for America.
Terrence, I'm sure you've noticed how Jorg and Westy become crickets and fail to reply when they are proved wrong....but, but, but.... you weren't supposed to know the facts and tell Jorgy's & Westy's bobble heads.
Not So Common, I believe everyone has noticed, and not only with Jorg and Westy. IMO, here is Jorg’s usual progression… Jorg will toss out an easily rebutted fake news and lies LTE or comment (with an obligatory “orange man bad” rant). After resistance and being proved wrong, Jorg will resort to throwaway comments, mostly to hear himself talk, and/or toss in some faux outrage (see examples below with Dirk) and/or toss in what you had previously termed “self-adoration” pieces. I’m sure others can add to the list. I take pleasure in watching Jorg paint himself into a corner and then attempting to dance out of it. Lather, rinse, and repeat for the next time.
As for Westy, IMO, she’s the type who tosses out something of interest to her and expects everyone else to comply to her worldview, rightly or wrongly. Many of us would like to have fruitful discussions based upon truth and data instead of emotion (which is okay in some cases, but it is not indicative, or relevant to everyone or anyone else).
Just my takes but I welcome feedback. I also welcome any takes about me, although according to Jorg, I’m just about every negative adjective he can think of. As hard as I try, I’ll always pale in comparison to the “orange man” living rent-free in Jorg’s head.
BTW, thanks for some of your recent comments which have dropped more ka-knowledge on me and our dear readers. I appreciate them and have saved a number of responses, as I’ve done with other contributors (hat tips to them, also).
Hello, Jorg
The House would possibly approve a border security bill from the Senate if it wasn't paired with cash for Ukraine. A clear majority of Americans... left, right and center... want the border secured. However, a majority of Americans want to limit funding for Ukraine.
Are you really worried about Putin steamrolling across Europe? About two weeks before the current fighting in Ukraine started, our top military official warned that Kyiv would fall within 72 hours following a Russian invasion... well, two years after the Russian incursion, Kviv still stands. During those two years, Russia has lost thousands of tanks, and thousands more artillery systems while sustaining 400,000 or more casualties. Given Russia's lack of success and losses against Ukraine, how do you think Putin would fare against a united Europe even without one US boot touching the ground over there?
Well, I certainly hope you are right, Ray! But I have to admit I'm worrying, not the least because I have the major part of my family in Germany. Ukraine is running out of ammunition, for one thing, and hard to predict what Putin could come up with in shear panic.
You're correct. Knowing Putin's hand is always close to his nuclear console is concerning.
Jorg - I have a great part of my family, in fact most of it, in the Netherlands. They are a bit worried about their unpreparedness but do not seem to lose sleep over it. They also know more about the political situation in Ukraine and that the international war industry and associated profiteers are pushing hard to keep this war going. Putin can be unpredictable but our leaders, including the US and most European, have been inconsistent in dealing with him over the past decade. So, Putin has taken advantage of that. He is a criminal but somehow we need to deal with it without overreacting and not continue to show our indecisiveness and apparent weakness. Now that bordering Finland and Sweden are NATO members, Putin feels even more threatened and may become more desperate with unintended consequences. If a major war broke out over there, we have nobody but ourselves to blame.
Ray - European news sources are reporting today that the NATO members are only marginally concerned about Putin's expansion plans. They have counted on the US to furnish unending war materiel and ammunition. Now that we have put a temporary stop to those shipments, they are caught with their pants down. Those countries are also coping with thousands of Ukrainian draft dodgers who call themselves refugees. European NATO members are simply not stepping up to the plate as Trump had figured out and are still not in compliance. I believe that Americans would be more conducive to supporting Ukraine if they rid of that clown in a green t-shirt and saw that Ukraine's immediate neighbors show more fortitude and tangible support.
What an utterly despicable lack of respect for people in dire need and fear of their lives, and what a complete lack of understanding of what is going on “over there”. Ever thought about yourself in a similar situation? And who are you, having the nerve to make fun of a hero respected around the world, sacrificing everything to save his own country, while you kiss up to a draft dodging, selfish traitor like your sleezy, lying cult leader, bragging about being a p-grabber! What a moral example!
Jorg - your lack of comprehension is again notable. I never said anything disparaging about the Ukrainians and their plight. As a committed group thinker, you cannot accept the fact that the green t-shirt wearer has plunged his country into a needless war and has caused incalculable misery and has brushed off any compromise. You should direct your venom at him instead of me. But, what else do we expect from a guy who has probably most severe case of TDS.
Dirk: Don’t you even understand the meaning of your own words: “thousands of Ukrainian draft dodgers who call themselves refugees”, “that clown in a green t-shirt”? My goodness, how low into the Trump-sump can you sink?! Shame on you!
Jorg's later response shows his inability to face the facts that are out there. Just because the US media is totally biased and refuses to include corroborated European news sources, he sticks with what he is being fed. Jorg - even the German Press are reporting the number of draft dodgers and the ever increasing Ukrainian reluctance s to support Zelensky, because of widespread corruption and the ineptitude of their military leadership. He is more popular with the patronizing, elitist European and US leaders than with his own countrymen. Perhaps your German linguistic abilities are consistent with your inability to comprehend English prose.
Dr. Pravica - Well said! Thank you!
Putin’s long stated objective is to regain control of the countries it lost in its 1999 collapse. None of the former communist block countries wanted to rejoin Russia.
Aggressor nations are part of the human DNA. Had it not been for the US, Japan would have taken over and Australia in WW-II and carried out their plan to take over India and eventually Saudi Arabia to control of the world’s oil supply. Nazi Germany would have controlled all of Europe and likely gotten an atomic bomb before we did. This is a re-occurring theme though out history and but for the US, Germany and Japan would have controlled the world. Any plan by Trump to make a concession to Russia would be a major mistake. Putin has never kept any peace agreement he agreed to.
