Editor,

U.S. Rep. Kevin Mullin is exactly right: the SAVE Act is a dangerous step backward for voting rights in this country. Under current U.S. law, it is illegal for non-citizens to register and vote in federal or state elections. Additionally, we have robust processes to ensure that only eligible voters are casting ballots.

What used to be right is now wrong and what used to be wrong is now right. Since when is it "dangerous" to expect people to be contributors to ethics, honesty and prove their rightful place in voting for this great nation?

Ah yes, "The checks and balances that underpin our nation must not be forgotten." Definite vote yes for the SAVE Act!

Thanks, Ms. Doede, for repeating the debunked Democrat playbook narrative on the SAVE Act. Let’s pass the SAVE Act to protect the right to vote – for all of us.

Tina - this bill also protects my right to vote in an election not marred by those who are illegally here and are allowed to vote. My wife, an immigrant, and our daughter who changed her last name upon marriage, never had a problem with getting an updated ID. Your argument is specious and I am not sure you would even want to mention the most despicable lying Senator Schiff in your justification.

I agree completely Tina. "Illegals" already cannot register to vote, and this false narrative of massive voter fraud and stolen elections has been debunked so many times that it is embarrassing to see it pushed again by Project 2025 supporters. Just ask Rudy Giuliani. The 2020 election was secure and fair. A handful of "dead voters" were found to be Republican. The SAVE act is cover for disenfranchising women and minorities. It's another shameful act by Felon47 and his authoritarian regime. If the spineless and cowed Republicans in Congress pass it, they should be ousted in the midterms.

SMpool - nothing stops an illegal resident from voting because of the motor voter law. He or she is asked under penalty to state when signing that document that they are eligible. Now, these folks don't give a darn about our laws to begin with by coming here illegally, do you honestly believe that they care about that statement? Have you seen the voter harvesters in action right before the elections? I can tell that you have not spent a lot of time with foreigners. Why do you think that poll workers are not supposed to ask for a photo ID or evidence of their eligibility? And, are you saying women and other non-white males are so disenfranchised that they cannot find a way to obtain a photo ID? Have you stood in line at the airport lately? Are all of these folks waiting to go through TSA control somehow more enlightened and are forced to leave their disenfranchised partners at home? You must be kidding. You are insulting a large demographic.
