Congratulations to Marcella Padilla who won the Redwood City District 7 City Council seat, I wish her success as she assumes this new role in serving our community. And congratulations to the many others who were elected for the first time, and those who were successful with their local and state races. I also want to thank those who were not successful, as it takes courage and commitment to run for office.
I had the honor of serving on Redwood City Council from 2018 to 2022, and it was a very special and rewarding experience. Having the opportunity to support such an enthusiastic and committed staff and generous residents who love their city and watch out for one another was an incredible honor.
It’s important to note that, while many jurisdictions have now been divided into districts, those districts are for elections only. Once elected, successful leaders will make decisions for the entire community or school district to which they were elected. I hope that all our newly elected leaders will govern as if they were elected by the entire community, not just by their districts. Focusing on service to the entire community will make your experience successful. That is my wish for you.
