There will be a special election to fill the remaining term of Tom Lantos. An article in the Daily Journal neglected to list the Green Party candidate. Barry Hermanson is the Green candidate for Congress in the 12th district of California. This district includes most of San Mateo County and the Sunset District of San Francisco County.
There were only three days to submit your name for the ballot accompanied by a sizable check to pay the election fee. Barry Hermanson filed his petition in lieu of paying the filing fee in San Francisco. As a Green Party candidate he did not have the funds to simply list his name with a big check attached.
Candidates of the Green Party do not accept corporate donations. It is our strong belief that corporate "donations" are really bribes to politicians to affect how they vote in office. There is strong evidence that this is true. While there is a sizable majority of citizens who want an end to the illegal occupation of Iraq and the impeachment of the President and Vice President for the illegal attack and occupation of Iraq, Congress will not act on these matters. It is clear that both the Democratic party and the Republican parties are working for their corporate paymasters.
Please don't be afraid of spoiling the election by voting for a candidate that is stating strongly that he wants our military budget decreased so that we can fund vitally needed domestic programs. Barry has a Web site. Punch up Barry Hermanson on Google and look at what Barry wants to do for us when he gets elected. He wants to work for us, not the military industrial complex President Eisenhower warned us about.

Editor's note: The candidate list for the 12th Congressional District includes three from San Mateo County -- Democrat Jackie Speier and Republicans Mike Moloney and Greg Conlon -- and two from the small slice of San Francisco included in the jurisdiction -- Barry Hermanson of the Green Party and Democrat Michelle McMurry. This was noted in a Feb. 27 Daily Journal article.
