Mathew ‘Pat’ (Papa) Secondo Carli, born Dec. 26, 1919, died July 5, 2018, at the age of 98, in San Mateo, California.
Pat was married for 68 years to Ann Marie Licata Carli. He was the father of Joanne, Gale and Tim Carli; Nancy (Don) Masik; Patti (Roy) Grandov and grandfather of Carli and Scott Masik; Roy, Mathew and Yolanda Grandov; Raquel Carli; Gabriela Reyes.
Born in Walkerville, Montana, to the late John and Margherita Carli. Predeceased by stepfather Peter Bugnatto; brothers George Bugnatto, Daniel and John Carli.
He is survived by sisters-in-law Barbara Galea and Maggie Bugnatto as well as many nieces and nephews.
Pat is a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Okinawa. Pat worked at United States Steel in South San Francisco for over 40 years as a welder. Pat loved to travel, dance, play cards, bowl, golf and gamble. His all-time favorite place was the El Dorado Casino in Reno.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Sutter Hospice or your favorite charity. The funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 23, at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in San Mateo.
