On Tuesday May 9, 2023 Mark Ford Lawson passed away in Skagit County, Washington. Born in 1954 to Allan and Mary Lawson, Mark was raised, along with his brother John and sister Ann, in San Mateo. He attended Hillsdale High School where he met his wife Lory. The two married in 1976 and enjoyed 46 wonderful years together.
Mark was a loyal friend, talented artist, and passionate father and husband. Whether coaching gymnastics, providing trustworthy service through the family business, Lawson’s Auto & Truck, or volunteering at countless community/school events, Mark was always helping others.
As a second generation potter, Mark began creating clay art at a young age with his mother, and eventually took classes in high school and later on at the ceramics studio at the Foster City Recreation Center. After retirement Mark and Lory relocated to Mount Vernon, Washington where Mark set up a home studio and continued to create beautiful works of art.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lory and is survived by his sons, Ford (Heather Lanctot) and Clark (Sunny Balopole) and one grandchild Elinor.
A celebration of life will be held at the San Mateo Garden Center on Saturday March 23 from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Samaritan House of San Mateo County.
