Laura ‘Jean’ Paulson

Laura “Jean” Paulson, born in Oakland, California, Aug. 5, 1945, died peacefully May 2, 2017.

She was raised in Kansas City but moved back to the Bay Area in 1970. A single mom, she raised two children, Chanel Diane Paulson and Lloyd Ashley Paulson. Called a “miracle patient” by her doctors, Jean lived for 40 years through several diagnoses of cancer, including thyroid and breast cancer. In 1991, Jean underwent a bone marrow transplant, and over the last few years, lived through stage four breast cancer. Small but mighty, Jean fought hard and maintained a positive and determined attitude for her family and friends. Throughout it all, she was able to work, raise her family, and even served as a volunteer driver for Peninsula Family Service.
