On Aug. 13 the life of a wonderful woman came to an end. Hanna Shane, wife, mother and caregiver died after an eight-month struggle against lung cancer.

Born in Hamburg, Germany June 16, 1924 young Hanna had a wonderful life surrounded by her parents and two older brothers. All the comfort of that life was taken away when Hanna and her parents were forced to leave their home and flee to Holland to escape the Holocaust in Germany. They stayed just a year in Amsterdam as conditions worsened in Europe. In 1938, the family received permission to travel to the United States and fled aboard a Norwegian freighter via the Panama Canal to Southern California.
