George Joseph White (“Papa George”) resident of Belmont, California, died peacefully April 10, 2019, in Redwood City, California, surrounded by his family and friends. He was 92 years old.
George was born April 3, 1927, in Derry, Ireland, and immigrated with his family to Belmont, California, in 1978. He moved back to Ireland in 1997 with his beloved wife, Margaret to retire in Co. Tyrone. In 2009, a few years after the death of dear Margaret, George returned to California to be with his children and grandchildren.
Papa George was respected and loved by all you who knew him and treated everyone as if they were a member of his own family. He leaves behind his daughter Geraldine, son George, daughter Catherine, son Sean, son Martin, grandchildren Rosheen, Sheila, Kiera, Austin, Taylor, Kendall, son-in-law Houshang, daughter-in-law Kimberly and grandson-in-law Kevin.
A memorial mass for George will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 325 Marine View Ave., Belmont, CA 94002.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sequoia Hospital Foundation, 170 Alameda de las Pulgas, Redwood City, CA 94062.
