Alicia Castro passed away unexpectedly in her home town of Belmont on November 12, 2018 at the age of 61. She was a native of El Salvador and came to America in 1985. She was a nanny for various families over the years, and she loved and nurtured many children. Alicia spent so many years with the Kimmey and Thompson families that she truly became a part of their families. She had a special place in her heart for Jackie, Stephanie, Nicholas, Jackie, Kyle, Mateen, Arshawn, and Neekon. She was passionate about spending time with her family and friends, as well as being with children. Alicia loved to take walks and be outdoors. She adored gardening and really enjoyed growing flowers, fruits and vegetables. She was always the first to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it and she touched so many hearts. Alicia will truly be missed.
Alicia was a loving and devoted wife to Kevin Schulz and a proud and loving mother to her children Ronald Hernandez (Norma), Rina Hernandez (Luis), and Marvin Castro (Cristina). She was a grandmother to eleven grandchildren and a great-grandmother to one. She was the oldest of nine children and was a wonderful sister to Rafael Castro (Ruth), Victoria Castro (Gilberto), Juventina Castro (Trancito), Lillian Castro, Nelson Castro (Lola Maria), Fredy Castro, and Meylim Castro. She was a kind and caring sister-in-law, a loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, and a good friend to all. Alicia was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon Castro and Irma Maldonado, and her brother Moncho Castro.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, November 19 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Crippen & Flynn Carlmont Chapel in Belmont (1111 Alameda de las Pulgas). The service will be held on Tuesday, November 20 at 11:30 am at Crippen & Flynn Carlmont Chapel and will be followed by a burial at Skylawn Memorial Park.
In honor of her love of nurturing children, donations in Alicia’s memory may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation at www.wish.org.
