Two women were released from custody on time served Tuesday after pleading no contest to attempting to bring drugs into a jail in San Mateo County, according to prosecutors.
Anges Banquerigo, 48, and Shelby Noel Myers, 26, were allegedly a part of a conspiracy to mail cards laced with methamphetamine into the Maple Street Correctional Center in Redwood City between October and December of 2017.
Investigators said jail calls uncovered a large ring of inmates working together, and there are at least seven other defendants listed in this case.
“I thought the evidence was fairly weak against Agnes, but the offer was credit for time served, which means if she pleaded ... she would get out,” defense attorney Chris Morales on behalf of his client.
Defense attorney Emily Andrews, who was representing Myers, was not immediately available to comment on the case.
