Two Richmond residents have been sentenced to 45 years to life and 233 years to life, respectively, for the repeated sexual abuse of a minor in Burlingame, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
A jury found Francisco Cruzgarcia guilty of 20 sexual assault felonies for repeated sexual abuse, including forcible oral copulation, forcible sodomy and threats with a gun. He will serve 233 years to life.
His brother, David Cruzgarcia, was found guilty of five sexual assault felonies, including lewd act by force and oral copulation of a minor. He will serve 45 years to life.
The abuse of the minor went on for five years — from when she was 12 to 17 — according to the DA’s Office, until the victim eventually told her mother.
“[I have] nothing but praise for Judge Garratt’s sentencing decision. These two men destroyed a young woman’s life and rightly deserve to get to spend the rest of their life in prison for it,” Wagstaffe said.
