A 15-year-old girl was chased on foot through the parking lot of the Colma Target store before she was arrested in connection with the theft of $1,173.52 worth of merchandise, police said.
Officers were dispatched about 3:24 p.m. Saturday to the Target at 5001 Junipero Serra Boulevard on a report of a theft, police said.
Target loss prevention employees attempted to detain the girl, but officers saw her walking away when they arrived.
Police ordered the girl to stop. Instead, she fled on foot through the parking lot. After a brief pursuit, she was taken into custody, police said.
The San Francisco resident was accused of organized retail theft, burglary, grand theft and obstructing/resisting a police officer. She was released to the care of family members.
Released to the care of family members – that’ll show her the error of her ways. For a day. Again showing that in San Mateo County, if you do the crime, you don’t do the time. Hey mass transit riders, I’d recommend you sit with your back against a wall. Who knows who is out there (that shouldn’t be out there) and behind you that would do you harm. Or better yet, shun mass transit. Good luck and be safe out there.
