Pamela Kurtzman will be named new CEO of the Sequoia Healthcare District Monday, according to outgoing CEO Lee Michelson, who is retiring after eight years.
Kurtzman, current district director of programs and grants, is expected to begin in the new position Jan. 1 if approved by the board Monday, Oct. 30.
She joined the district in August 2006 to launch the HeartSafe Program, a public access defibrillator program that aims to increase the survival rate from sudden cardiac arrest through the strategic placement of Automated External Defibrillators and training community members in CPR.
Prior to joining the district, she worked at the Stanford Center for Disease Prevention in heart disease research and as an exercise physiologist for the Living Strong, Living Well Program, an exercise program for cancer survivors.
Sequoia Healthcare District was formed in 1946 originally as a hospital district but now provides health services to residents in the cities of Atherton, Belmont, Redwood City, Portola Valley, San Carlos, Woodside and portions of Menlo Park, Foster City and San Mateo.
