San Mateo police are still searching for clues that may lead to a suspect or suspects that broke into a T.G.I. Friday's in January, killing a night employee during the possible attempted robbery, a lieutenant said Thursday.
On Jan. 21 a day shift manager of the restaurant, located at 3101 S. El Camino Real, entered the restaurant and found 36-year-old Douglas Castillo dead on the floor, Lt. Mike Brunicardi said. Police believe that Castillo was killed during a robbery attempt.
Castillo, a resident of Hayward, was a nightshift employee, according to police.
Brunicardi said that the case is still active and detectives are continuing to exhaust all leads in connection with the case. Any little bit of information that a witness recalls could lead to a crucial avenue of investigation, he added.
Castillo's death is the city's first homicide since 2006.
Details of the crime scene, such as where the body was found, are being withheld during the ongoing investigation.
T.G.I. Friday's Worldwide is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the worker's death, Brunicardi said.
