A rookie deputy with the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office on Friday made an arrest of a suspect wanted for multiple warrants and allegedly discovered him in possession of a firearm, the office said Saturday.
On Friday at about 11 p.m., the new deputy was patrolling along the coast near Half Moon Bay when he made a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation.
After running the driver's information, the deputy discovered that he had an outstanding warrant for criminal threats/hate crime and a disorderly conduct allegation. Additional deputies were called to the scene and an investigation uncovered a fully loaded and unregistered semiautomatic firearm in the vehicle.
Jason Quiros, 52, of El Granada, was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an unregistered firearm and for his warrants.

Slow day in the press room, or is Corpus trying to deflect the chaos at the Sheriff’s Office by posting a feel-good story?
