After its announcement that it may not be able to continue with its annual nutcracker productions, Peninsula Lively Arts stated on Tuesday that it would proceed with all three productions.
Last month, the dance company stated it may have to pause its productions due to low funding levels. However, in a recent press release, it stated recent contributions “have propelled the company past the halfway mark toward its $150,000 holiday fundraising goal.”
Executive Director Debbie Chinn said in the press release she was grateful for the support, but added that they “must close the remaining gap quickly to ensure our dancers, all of our artists and production teams have the resources they need — not only for these holiday performances, but to sustain our operations moving into the new year.”
The dance company produces a traditional ballet Nutcracker production, a hip-hop version and Nutcracker Sweets — a smaller production catered to young families — which will be held between Dec. 6 to Dec. 21.
