A Redwood City resident who allegedly attacked a Pink Pantherz Espresso employee and a San Mateo County sheriff’s deputy was restored to competency and criminal proceedings in his case will resume Aug. 28, Chief Deputy District Attorney Shin-Mee Chang said.
Ibarra Jr. allegedly attacked an employee at Pink Pantherz after he ordered a green tea and tried to enter the business, which has no customer entry. When the employee locked the door and window, Ibarra allegedly became enraged, ripped the window from the walk-up and pulled the employee out the window, the DA’s Office said.
Ibarra then allegedly walked into El Camino and attempted to hit passing cars, at which point a deputy driving by attempted to stop him. Ibarra allegedly attacked the deputy, shoving his fingers in the deputy’s eyes.
Ibarra was found guilty of felony assault in 2015. He has two pending misdemeanor charges against him, one for impersonating a police officer — he was allegedly found outside of Sequoia Station wearing a police officer uniform — and another for misdemeanor battery, for which he allegedly smacked a phone out of a woman’s hand as she attempted to call the police on him for repeatedly asking her to have sex with him at the Sequoia Station Safeway, Wagstaffe said.
