People sweltered in sticky, 90-plus July weather in the East and elsewhere across the nation Wednesday as fans and air conditioners sucked up electricity at rates that strained utilities.
At least four deaths have been blamed on the stifling weather this week in St. Louis and Chicago, and heat contributed to the death of a Ohio construction worker.
