At about 4:08 p.m. Dec. 3, officers assigned to the mall received a call from loss prevention agents at Macy’s about a theft. The man, later identified as Carlos Duarte-Umul, 19, of San Mateo, allegedly stole more than $500 worth of merchandise from the store. Once outside, he allegedly fought with store employees and was detained as officers investigated, according to police.
A few hours later, at 7:05 p.m., an officer received another call from Macy’s loss prevention agents about another theft. This time, a man, later identified as Christopher Boyle, 41, of San Francisco, was stopped outside the store after he allegedly stole almost $1,200 worth of merchandise. The items were recovered and returned to Macy’s.
