FREMONT, Calif. (AP) — A worker at a Tesla factory in California was arrested on a homicide warrant after a co-worker was fatally shot after a shift, police said.
The male victim, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead Monday afternoon in a parking lot at Tesla's facility in the San Francisco Bay Area city of Fremont.
Several expended .223-caliber rifle casings were found nearby, the Fremont Police Department said in a statement.
"Within several hours, detectives developed leads on a potential suspect who also worked with the victim," the statement said. "Detectives learned that the victim and suspect had been arguing earlier in the day, and that the suspect had suddenly walked off the job."
Anthony Solima, 29, was arrested that night in Milpitas after detectives obtained arrest and search warrants.
Police said a loaded .223-caliber rifle with no serial number was found in Solima's vehicle along with an expended casing.
It was not immediately known if Solima had a lawyer who could speak on his behalf. Online Alameda County booking records showed that Solima was being held without bail at the Santa Rita Jail and was scheduled for a court arraignment on Thursday.
