One person is dead and another has been arrested after a shooting reported Wednesday afternoon near San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf, according to police.
Officers initially responded at 1:11 p.m. to the area of Columbus Avenue and North Point Street on a report that a male suspect shot at someone inside of a vehicle and then fled from the area, San Francisco police said.
The suspect turned himself in at the nearby SFPD Central Station and his name is not yet being released.
Officers searching the area of the reported shooting eventually found a vehicle parked near Leavenworth and Beach streets with a male victim unresponsive and with gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his identity was not immediately available.
Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call the SFPD tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message.
