I believe in setting modest goals, goals with wiggle room. Like when I joined a gym. I never told myself I'd go every day, but figured two to four times per week sounded right. We should look at brushing our pets' teeth the same way. Brushing every other day would be super, but who's going to do that - some of your pets' mouths have never seen a brush. Instead, shoot for once every week. You can use your old, human toothbrush, but make sure to buy pet toothpaste. Don't worry, you won't confuse your paste and his. Crest doesn't come in beef or liver flavored varieties.

Pet toothpaste, unlike ours, can be safely ingested. Aside from the fun flavors, that's the big difference. Speaking of teeth, we have four middle-aged poodles who don't have a mouthful of teeth
