Former Roosevelt Elementary Principal Matt Pavao was named the new assistant superintendent of Education Services for the Burlingame School District. After serving as principal for 12 years, Pavao began in his new role Aug. 3.

Pavao was recognized for his advocacy in inclusion, innovation and the teaching profession, Superintendent Marla Silversmith said in a press release. He also was named an Administrative Trailblazer by the Digital Innovation in Learning group and gave the keynote speech at an annual convention on inclusive practices in 2023.
