Judge orders Redmond O’Neal held without bail
LOS ANGELES — A judge on Friday ordered the son of Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O’Neal to be held without bail while he awaits sentencing on a probation violation.
Redmond O’Neal appeared in court Friday and admitted he had violated the terms of his probation for a previous drug conviction, court records show. A judge revoked the 24-year-old’s bail and ordered a sentencing hearing for next week.
He faces up to three years in state prison for the violation, and still has a pair of pending drug cases.
O’Neal has been jailed since Sunday, when he was arrested at a jail north of Los Angeles on suspicion of carrying heroin. O’Neal had been sentenced to a drug diversion program after pleading guilty to methamphetamine and heroin possession charges in June.
Less than three months later, O’Neal was arrested along with his father on suspicion of having methamphetamine at the actor’s Malibu home.
A call to O’Neal’s attorney was not returned Friday.
Ryan O’Neal pleaded guilty to a drug possession charge in January and remains in a drug diversion program.
Redmond is his son from a relationship with Fawcett, who has reportedly been released from a Los Angeles hospital after suffering complications from a surgical procedure she had in Germany. She was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006, but People.com reported the recent procedure was unrelated to her cancer fight.

Spector jury goes home for weekend
LOS ANGELES — Ending more than two weeks of unusually fragmented deliberations, the jury in music producer Phil Spector’s murder retrial went home for the weekend Friday without reaching a verdict.
The Superior Court panel spent only about two hours in talks before its scheduled early Good Friday departure.
The jurors have deliberated in fits and starts due to illness and holiday interruptions since getting the case March 26. They have met on eight different days but four of those were half-day sessions, including Thursday, when they reported a juror was ill. The sick juror returned on Friday.
Other interruptions have included a four-day weekend break for the Cesar Chavez Day holiday and another four-day break including a weekend when a juror came down with the flu. They have spent a total of about 27 hours in talks.
The jury has made only one request, asking for readback of a small segment of testimony from a coroner’s investigator.
Spector, 69, is accused of second-degree murder in the gunshot death of actress Lana Clarkson, 40. She died from a bullet fired in her mouth as she sat in the foyer of Spector’s mansion in 2003. The defense claims it was suicide.
Spector’s first trial ended in 2007 with a 10-2 jury deadlock. The majority favored conviction. That jury deliberated for about 44 hours over 12 days before the judge declared a mistrial. Both trials lasted about six months.
